Ridewiser Flinders Flight 177 Circuit
Fast & flowing, the 177km version of Flinders return takes riders across perfect strength-building terrain, using intermittent bouts of flat road & undulation climbing sectors on Melbourne's Mornington peninsula, but using the back-roads off the main highways of the water-front so commonly known. The mid-way challenge of the day is the most popular favorite CAT 1 climb of the region, 4km up Arthur's Seat, which can be perfectly omitted for less strong riders using the ridge road to regroup at Arthur's summit. Next, riders then take a fast route via beautiful Main Ridge town to descend into a fantastic hot-mix finish at Flinders for the shop-stop of the day (92km done). The return leg omits the Aurthur's climb in favor of a constantly higher average speed covering mostly the same course (with some minor recommended differences for a pleasant & safer return - see map) back to Southland Over-pass start-point covering 177km within 6.5hrs.

Directions
Ride from Cheltenham directly down Nepean Hwy to Frankston, main turn left onto Davey St and right up Yuille to Overport Rd which links to Humphries to the top of Two Bays Rd. From this first high point, descend to Moorooduc Hwy, only to right turn dog-leg off it via the round-a-bout and run the back-roads up Eramosa, Derril & Bentons to miss all of the busy main roads. Then it's off Bentons back along some 800m leg more of Moorooduc Hwy but go off left again at Old Moorooduc Hwy to turn left onto Balnarring Rd which passes through Tuerong before taking a right on Tubbarubba Rd to Red Hill and then right onto Arthur's Seat 'ridge' Rd. Here riders can simply follow though to Arthur's summit if wanting to miss the main climb of the day, or the bunch turns right down White Hill Rd to skirt behind Dromana on Boundary Rd in order to hit Arthur's Seat CAT 1 climb from its very base. Once regathered atop, the route needs a map to correctly descend straight through to (turn right onto) Main Creek Rd to see 'Main Ridge' township. Then turn left up to Baldry's Rd round-a-bout, and turn left again down to do the BIG DIP and up to the main run into Flinders along Mornington-Flinders Rd. The return trip is entirely similar apart from missing the 12km loop back down Arthur's Seat, so riders simply turn right for home once hitting the ridge line at Arthur's Seat Rd to go back to Red Hill again (Recommendation: always keep the train line on your left while traveling the main Nepean Hwy route between Frankston through to Mordialloc - use Nepean Hwy going south, but use Station St coming back north).
