Quentin commented on his own time: "Missed the start by a few minutes so official total time is a bit over actual. Ride time was about 8 hours flat. Ridden conservatively to ensure a finish after a shocker in 07 (first DNF in 8 attempts at the 2007). Fantastic conditions and a really enjoyable day on the bike for a time I was very happy with ... funny how the ones you enjoy the most are usually quicker than you expected!"
Quentin commented on his own time: "Wore a HRM for the first time ever on a climb - surprised at the high figures. Max effort, but nearly 5 minutes down on my PB of exactly 5 years ago. Is it age cathing up? Lack of racing? Lack of hard k's? Bit of a headwind in upper reaches only - not fun!"
Quentin commented on his own time: "Haven't done Donna in a while - or any other climbs for that matter. And how it showed! No warmup (big mistake!), and suffering all the way in the 39/21 as a result. 4 1/2 minutes off my PB, but to be expected. From Cement (Legs!) Creek I was able to push"
Quentin commented on his own time: "Again, no real warmup (checked the PO distance/time - 1km/about 2 minutes ... for those who want to know). Tried a different tack to my PB effort, starting easier, using higher gears and trying to conserve for a quicker top half. Worked fine until I totally dudded out about 3km up from the ticket office. Gave up and speed dropped from 18kph to 12-13kph. Two weeks after the Alpine Classic was too soon, it seems. Will try this method again when I'm more rested."
Quentin commented on his own time: "Was travelling well, but gave up on a good time when I got back to Bright - I felt too knackered, and hung around for 30 minutes trying to get motivated. Hated every pedal stroke of the new route beyond The Gap. Also stuffs up the relativity of PBs. Well, maybe NEXT year! Hmmmm, preparation? ... more long, easy k's, more long, hard k's, more long climbing days, more ...? Problem is, I ain't gettin' any younger! I suggest we prod Audax to reconcile with Buffalo Chalet management to reinstate the 'old' course."
