Flagstaff Road Hill Climb

Distance: 7.56km | 4.70mi

Attempts: 23

Directions

Exit from Hwy 36 on Baseline heading West. Pass through the intersection of Broadway and Baseline at .3 miles. Continue towards the foothills heading west .9 miles. Look to the left side of the road for Chautauqua Park. Park in the parking area or on surrounding streets to begin your ride. Start your ride by heading west up Flagstaff road. The first 2 miles are pretty steep. At 1 mile there is a fee station/parking area you can turn off on to catch your breath or just enjoy the view. At 2 miles the grade eases up and allows you to gain a rhythm. Switchbacks are a dime a dozen on this road. This section of the ride has a bunch. At 3.3 miles there is a turnoff to the Flagstaff Amphitheater on the right. At 4.0 miles you get one last chance (or excuse) to take a break and enjoy a great view at the Lost Gulch Overlook. Continue pedaling past Cathedral park and get ready to crank at 4.4 miles when you begin an extremely steep series of switchbacks. This continues until the 4.7 mile mark which is the summit. A sign will read "Leaving Boulder County Parks."

Start Point: Flagstaff Road, Boulder, Colorado, rolling

End point: Flagstaff Summit -> "leaving boulder county parks" sign
