Ridewiser Power Loop Circuit

Ridewiser Power Loop is designed to train explosive power & bike-handling skills together. A rehearsed knowledge of the course is essential because of the need for: (1) familiarity with the 14 climbs over the 40km circuit in order to exert at increasing levels of effort, and (2) the various turns and streets used on the route create a cycling-safe 'flowing effect' due to visible intersections & mostly left-hand turns – but you need to learn the pattern so you’re not wondering when the turns & hills are coming up. For progressive level of intensity & difficulty on the course, there are 4 Sectors each focusing the rider to specific drills & levels of exertion (see Training Instructions below >). The Power Loop offers convenient options to cut-short by 1/3 or ½ the full course length (ideal in bad weather or for inexperienced or unfit riders) due to a mid-way passing of Frankston area during the circuit. For groups of riders of varying ability, the course also criss-crosses the Two Bays Rd round-a-bout 3 times at approx. > 20mins, 25mins & 70mins into the 40km route.

Directions

'Effective Training' on the Ridewiser Power Loop requires riders to progress through 4 Sectors of intensity: (Sector 1 GREEN so mid-range preparation 8.5km) stay in the seat, breathe deeply, tackle the climbs with increasing intensity but remain at mid-range output levels; (Sector 2 ORANGE so Threshold work-out) you are warmed up well now so clock yourself over the CAT 1 climb during the 6.5km Mini-Pyrenees Circuit back to the round-a-bout; (Sector 3 YELLOW so fast cadence & speedy descents) aim to rev the legs but become recovered & supple over 10mins of quick riding action for 5km; (Sector 4 RED so intense & heavy strength gearing over 18km) difficult section with steeper gradients, longer hills & some windy parts, now is the time to knuckle down and train hard. The final BLUE section over 2km is a descent to the finish back to your first set of traffic lights in Frankston (90mins or less is an effective completion).
