Jeff commented on Chris Munn's time: "Hi Chris. We were in Ballarat a few years ago and I was talking to a farmer that lived out near Mt Arapiles. He told us to visit and he'd show us around. Never did. I've seen it from a distance. A popular spot for many reasons I believe..Cheers Jeff"

I'm just wondering if a Ground Effect catalogue from New Zealand that arrived in the post has a connection with registering for the TDU Challenge Ride.
Any others sharing in this coincidence?

I rode between Lower North East Road and Torrens Hill road a few months ago. I hadn't ridden that way for years and years. It was about the same as I remembered. It's a nice ride with a few short ups and downs. It used to be part of a circuit that was used for racing some years ago, going through Inglewood, Houghton, top of Anstey's, then back along the golf course through to Paracombe. It was a beautiful road circuit where they had National Road Championships back in early 80s (?). It suffered the curse of becoming too busy with traffic, I think.

After seeing a video clip on the CYCLING TIPS website, I may have to revise my attitude to magpies.

Cyclists have the advantage of wearing a helmet, so the chances of the magpie actually hitting the scalp are minimal. (I think).
Having said that, a couple of years ago, one magpie managed to come in quite low and hit me just in front of the ear. I like magpies so I don't really dislike them for their aggression for a short time each year.
I've found that actually worrying about getting attacked and scanning every tree you pass, poses more danger than the attacks themselves.

Just as a matter of interest. The standard gearing for a road bike back in the 60s was 54/48 with a 13/21, 5 speed cluster. Are cyclists getting weaker or are they just preserving their knees?
