Andy commented on his own time: "Solid start, felt great most of the way up. Not much of a sprint in the end, was feeling it by then!"

Finally got around to finishing the video from the Hells 500 ride.... Always a pretty tricky job to try and sum up 10,000 vertical metres of climbing over 500km in less than the time of an ad-break - but hopefully the finished result gives you just a little insight into what we went though over that weekend in March... Please enjoy: Hells 500 Video As a side note, the full ride report is available: Ride Report and feel free to join us on future (slightly shorter!) rides - Hells 500 Facebook Page Cheers, Andy, John, Shane, Paul

Really well written article posted by 'The Climbing Cyclist' on the background to Hells 500. Worth a look: link

In less than 3 weeks myself and three other cyclists will be taking on the toughest ride we have ever contemplated - Hells 500. In a nutshell it's more than 500km, with over 10,000 vertical metres of climbing in less than 48 hours. This is not an official, organised event. The concept that we developed more than 18 months ago was to come up with an 'impossible' ride for a bit of training motivation. For the past year we've been training - including through the dark depths of a Melbourne Winter. As important as this challenge is to us, it has recently taken on a completely new meaning. We're proud to be supporting Ride Hard to Breathe Easy, a fantastic cause aimed at raising awareness of Lung Cancer. We're doing this in support of Karen Munroe - a Masters National Champion track cyclist who has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer - yet has never smoked before in her life. We've popped together a little teaser video for the ride that you can view here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrQzqkUwFOQ Finally - if you are interested in tracking the ride, then feel free to have a look at the Facebook fan site 'Hells 500' Enjoy!
