Hi folks, Adelaide's first bicycle co-op is about to open! The aim is to get more people riding by helping them to repair and maintain their bikes, and recycling old bikes for use by those who need them most. So please donate your unwanted and outgrown bikes, parts, tools and anything else which might be useful - maybe even some of your time and expertise! The main page about the project is here: http://www.adelaidecyclists.com/group/bikecoop
To all those who eat masses of bananas (yum) and other fresh fruit, does all that natural fibre "affect" you ?
Not as much as a good strong cup of coffee :-) Most of the fibre in fruit is the soluble kind, which doesn't want to get out as badly as insoluble stuff like bran.

They should be pretty stiff wheels, if they're in good shape, and if they're flexing you ought to hear creaking or pinging noises from them - more likely it's your frame. How close are the pads to the wheels? You can probably go out as far as 2mm without problems. A guy as heavy as you ought to be riding on hand-built 36/28 spoke wheels with deep V rims, but that's more for reliability than stiffness.
Nice ride with nice food, thanx to BikeSA. Victor was nice today:) Thanx to everyone who made the effort to come out and play:)
It's a shame I had to turn off at Meadows and come home in order to have lunch and get to work on time - I was motoring along at the front with a nice fast group. Onya Chris, Frank, Dave & Alan :-)
Michael, once again you have managed to pidgeon hole alot of people. I was one of those "bogans" that had committed funds to go to the "boganfest" and that did not allow me to go on this years coast to coast. First one Ive missed in a few years. Bad timing!!! Oh and by the way ... it is possible to enjoy both motorsport and a love of cycling.
So far "a lot of people" is just you, and none of the people I ride with wanted to go, so my argument stands for the time being :-) I guess that if we regard cycling purely as recreation there's no conflict, but if we also commute and shop by bike (I'm almost car-free), care about the transport problems of our cities and give a **** about the future of the planet in general, we'd have a bit of a problem with car racing. And if you don't think it encourages hoon driving on the road, you haven't been riding around Adelaide for the last week or so. Effing bogans.
